Tallest buildings in the world: Top 10.

Since the 1930s Skyscrapers have begun to appear all over the world, and today some of these buildings have reached heights before thought to be impossible. Here is a countdown list of 10 tallest buildings in the world today. By 2016 Zefeng Tower was the tenth tallest tower in the world. But by the completion of Tiajin R&F Guangdong Tower in 2016, the Zifeng Tower became the 11th tallest building in the world. This is top 10 list of tallest buildings, however we did not excluded Zefing Tower from the list, putting it in 11th number.

01. Burj Khalifa:

163 floor Burj Khalifa is world’s tallest building which is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirate. It was called Burj Dubai before its complete construction and inauguration. The height of the tower is 828 meter. It is wonder of modern world. Tourists visit to see this tower from all over the world. Its construction was started in January 6, 2004 and completed in January 4, 2010.

02. Shanghai Tower:

The 632 meter tall Shanghai Tower is located in 501 Yincheng Middle Rd, LuJiaZui, Lujiazui Residential District, Pudong Xinqu, Shanghai Shi, China, 200000. The Shanghai Tower is a 632-metre, 128 story megatall skyscraper in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. This is a multi-use building including hotels, restaurants, offices and other residential apartment. It has the world’s highest observation deck within a building or structure, and the world’s fastest elevators at a top speed of 20.5 m/s. 03. Abraj Albait Clock Tower:

The total height of Abraj Albait Clock Tower is 601 meter. It is also know as Mecca Royal Clock Tower. It is government owned megatall complex of seven skyscraper hotels in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

These towers are a part of the King Abdulaziz Endowment Project that strives to modernize the city in catering to its pilgrims. The central hotel tower, the Makkah Royal Clock Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, has the world’s largest clock face and is the third tallest building and fourth tallest freestanding structure in the world. The building complex is metres away from the world’s largest mosque and Islam’s most sacred site, the Masjid al-Haram. The developer and contractor of the complex is the Saudi Binladin Group, the Kingdom’s largest construction company.

The complex was built after the demolition of the Ajyad Fortress, the 18th-century Ottoman citadel which stood atop a hill overlooking the Grand Mosque. The destruction of the fort in 2002 by the Saudi government sparked Turkish and international outcry. It is the world’s most expensive building with the total cost of construction equaling US$15 billion.

The total height of One World Trade Center is 541.3 meter high. One World Trade Center is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the sixth-tallest in the world. It is the rebuild of World Trade Center which was destroyed in 2001 attack carried out by the terrorists.

The height of CTF Finance Center is 530 meter. The Guangzhou Chow Tai Fook Finance Centre is a 530 meter tall mixed-use skyscraper in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, which was completed in October 2016. It is the tallest completed building in Guangzhou, the third-tallest in China, and the seventh tallest in the world. The Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre has a total of 111 above ground and five below ground floors and houses a shopping mall, offices, apartments, and a hotel. The skyscraper has a gross floor area of 5,464,633 square feet (507,681.0 m2), of which a little over twenty percent is not part of the skyscraper itself, but of the podium connected to it.

06. Taipei 101:

World 5th tallest building is Taipei 101. It is 509.2 meter high. It was opened on December 31, 2004. The Taipei 101 / TAIPEI 101, formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center – is a landmark supertall skyscraper in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. The building was officially classified as the world’s tallest in 2004, and remained such until the completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010. In 2011, the building was awarded the LEED platinum certification, the highest award according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, and became the tallest and largest green building in the world.

Taipei 101 is designed to withstand the typhoon winds and earthquake tremors that are common in the area east of Taiwan. Evergreen Consulting Engineering, the structural engineer, designed Taipei 101 to withstand gale winds of 60 metres per second (197 ft/s), (216 km/h or 134 mph), as well as the strongest earthquakes in a 2,500-year cycle.

07. Shanghai World Financial Center:

474 meter high Shanghai World Financial Center is a super scale sky scrapper located in the Pudong District of Shanghai China. It is a mixed-use skyscraper, consisting of offices, hotels, conference rooms, observation decks, and ground-floor shopping malls. On 14 September 2007, the skyscraper was topped out and is 492 metres (1,614.2 ft), making it the 9th tallest building in the world and the fourth tallest structure in Mainland China. The SWFC opened to the public on 28 August 2008, with its observation deck opening on 30 August. The observation deck offers views from 474 m (1,555 ft) above ground level.

08. International Commerce Center:

The Hong Kong International Commerce Center is 484 meter high. It has 108 storey. 484 meter hight sky scrapper was completed in 2010 in West Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is a part of the Union Square project on top of Kowloon Station. It is part of Union Square Project. By 2014 it was the world’s 8the tallest building and world’s fourth tallest building with regard to numbers of floors. This the tallest building in Hong Kong. A five star hotel and world highest swimming pool is found in the upper floors of the building.

09. Tiajin R&F Guangdong Tower:

Tianjin R&F Guangdong Tower is a 91 storey, 468 m tall mixed use supertall skyscraper under construction in Tanggu District, Tianjin, China. The tower was proposed for construction in 2008. The tower is expected to be completed in 2016.

10. Petronas Twin Towers:

The Petronas Towers also known as the Petronas Twin Towers are 451.9 meter high in Malaysia. These two twin towers are are of same shape and design i.e interior and exterior. These were the tallest towers in the world from 1998 to 2004 and remains the tallest twin towers in the world. Thousands of people were evacuated on the twelfth of September, 2001, when a bomb threat was reported on the day after of September 11, 2001 attacks. Bomb disposal squad had found no bomb in the towers but they evacuated every one.

 Zifeng Tower: 

By 2016 Zefeng Tower was the tenth tallest tower in the world. But by the completion of Tiajin R&F Guangdong Tower in 2016, the Zifeng Tower became the 11th tallest building in the world. This is top 10 list of tallest buildings, however we did not exclude Zefing Tower from the list, putting it in 11th number.

Zifeng Tower is a 450 meter high Sky Scrapper completed in 2010 in Nanjing China. The 89 story building comprises on residential apartments, hotels and restaurants and offices in the base floors. At the time of its completion it was the world’s sixth tallest building, but later on it was dropped down because of construction of couple of taller buildings. Its design is very unique. The Tower occupies an area of 18,721 square metres. The Nanjing Greenland Inter Continental Hotel is located within the tower.
