What are Hammocks?

Hammocks are shady highland habitats that can sustain many hardwood trees. The Arawak peoples referred to Hammocks as “sleeping place” and they are what we see in most of the shady parks in South Miami. A great place for wildlife to call home and for migratory birds to rest as they take their long journeys through our peninsula.
